The Lake View and Latta volleyball teams opened Region 7A play with home wins on Monday.

Lake View downed Johnsonville, 3-1, for their first win ever against the Lady Flashes program.

Lake View won by scores of 25-23, 25-23, 18-25 and 25-19.

The Lady Wild Gators (6-1, 1-0) were led by Allie Elvington’s 12 kills and Chessie Miller’s 11 kills.

Morgan Wethington had 20 assists to lead Lake View, while Kristin Mendhenhall had 10 kills and Amber Suggs added 9 kills.

Latta (4-1, 1-0) swept visiting Carvers Bay, with scores of 25-12, 25-9 and 25-19.

The Lady Vikings totaled 22 service aces in the match.

Kate Allen led the way with 5 aces and 2 assists. Ieshia Ford added 4 kills and 4 aces.

Kerry Lee Cox added 4 aces, while Anna Benton Love had 3 aces.

Amber Moody had a team-high 6 assists.
