On Thursday, November 6th, 2008 Mount Calvary Baptist Church hosted its 3rd Annual Wild Game Banquet with over 450 people in attendance. The Mount Calvary Baptist Church gymnasium and fellowship building was decorated with leaves, trees, and mounted wild game. Before the evening began everyone enjoyed the hunting and fishing simulators brought by members of the Department of Natural Resources.

The wild game dinner began at 6:45 and featured both wild game dishes and "tame" dishes for the less adventuresome. Some of the foods were bear, quail, duck stew, alligator tail, crawfish, catfish, brim, King Mackerel, perch, fish stew, deer chili beans, deer smoked sausage, deer summer sausage, deer barbecue, deer stew, deer roast, deer and beans, wild hog, camp stew, pulled barbecue, pork sausage, chicken, chicken and rice, chicken and dumplings, ham, ham and rice. There were also lots of side dishes and wonderful desserts.

Bobby Richardson was the featured speaker. Richardson, a former New York Yankee second baseman, was a four time world champion, appearing in 9 of 10 World Series.

He shared stories about Mickie Mantle, Yogi Berra, and Roger Marris. He did a great job connecting with the group and sharing the good news of Jesus' perfect life, death on the cross, and his resurrection on the third day.

The message reminded everyone that Jesus is the solution to the sin problem of humanity and that all people are able to come to God through faith in Jesus.

After he spoke, he spent time taking pictures with attendees and signing out autographs. There was a free drawing for 2 thermal cells and a tree stand.

The sportsmen of Mount Calvary Baptist seek to honor God in every area of their lives, including leisure activities such as hunting and fishing. By donating the food, setting up the facilities and then preparing the meals, these men use their time and talents for the glory of God. Mount Calvary Baptist would like to thank the Dillon community for allowing the church to minister in this way.
